| Arlene A. Spitznagle, age 80, of Lafayette, died at 7:36 p.m. Friday, March 12, 2010 at St. Elizabeth East Medical Center. Born in Lafayette on June 22, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Edward Spitznagle & Katherine G. Fassnacht Spitznagle. She was a 1947 graduate of Monitor High School & a 1950 graduate of St. Elizabeth School of Nursing. From 1973 to 1975 she was a nurse at Community East in Indianapolis & St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove. She retired from St. Elizabeth Hospital in 1994 after 39 years. She was a member of the St. Boniface Church, St. Elizabeth Alumni Association & the Lafayette Catholic Nurses.
Surviving are 2 brothers; Earl J. Spitznagle, of Lafayette, & Merlin R. Spitznagle of Rossville, 5 sisters; Katherine F. Biltz, Patricia L. Smith & Shirley R. Klinker (husb: Jerome), all of Lafayette, & Ann M. Rettig & Marjorie J. Gick (husb: Marvin), both of West Lafayette.
She was preceded in death by 5 brothers; Leonard E., Bernard F., William V., Daniel A. & Francis C. Spitznagle & 3 sisters; Dorothy L. Spitznagle, Gertrude E. Buckles & Mary M. Cochran.
Friends may call 5-8 p.m., with Rosary Service at 4:30 p.m. Monday at Hippensteel Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Celebrating the Mass will be Fr. Gustavo Lopez with Fr. David Buckles concelebrating. Interment at St. Boniface Cemetery. Hippensteel Funeral Home entrusted with care.
