Bertha M. Plantenga

Bertha M. Plantenga, 92, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at St. Anthony Health Care in Lafayette. Bertha was born November 21, 1928 in Lafayette to the late John C. and Anna Burkhouse. She married Charles M. Plantenga on June 30, 1949. He preceded her in death on July 14, 2018. Bertha was a homemaker. She enjoyed crafts and was an expert seamstress. She was a passionate volunteer, especially the Girl Scouts of America, her church, and children’s school. Bertha loved her family dearly and will be deeply missed. Surviving are her children, Kerry (Joy) Plantenga, Marsha (Bob) King, and Laura Plantenga; grandchildren, Jennifer Jarrett, Dustann Crose, Tom and Ted Whitus. In addition to her parents and husband, Bertha is preceded in death by siblings, Charles Burkhouse, Christiana Kiezer, Anna Louise Gorris, and Rosemary Bouwkamp. Funeral Services will take place on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at 2:00 PM, with visitation one hour prior to the ceremony beginning at 1:00 PM at Hippensteel Funeral Home in Lafayette. Interment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette.
