Ronald E. Schwartz

Ronald E. Schwartz, 90, of Brookston passed away Saturday, February 20, 2021 peacefully in the comfort of his home. He was born May 5, 1930 to William Earl and Blanche M. (Faker) Schwartz in Freeland Park, IN. Ronald served in the U.S. Navy from 1948-1952. Ronald was married to the late Marian V. Datzman, she preceded him in death on March 6, 1987. He was employed for 14 years at the Water Department for the City of Lafayette, retiring in 1997. Ronald was a member of the American Legion Post 492. He enjoyed reading, watching television, and learning about history. He was a member of the St. Ann Catholic Church and served as a lectern and eucharistic minister for many years. Ronald was a Red Coat Volunteer for St. Elizabeth Hospital. He loved spending time with family, friends, children and grandchildren. He is survived by his children: Sue A. Bell, Scott (Cheri) Schwartz of West Lafayette, Stephen W. Schwartz of Brookston; sister, Margaret Hofmeyer (Tom) of Fowler; 7 grandchildren, Zachary (Shelby) Schwartz, Megan (David) Greaves, Morgan (Carmen) Pacelli, Sara Miller, Janice Miller, Matthew Bell and Laura Bell, 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Ronald is preceded in death by his parents William Earl and Blanche M. (Faker) Schwartz, wife Blanche M. (Faker) Schwartz; brothers Donald R.Schwartz and Vincent Lee Schwartz ; two sisters , Venice Cors and Eileen E. Anstett. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 25, 2021 from 9:30-10:30 am at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 am St. Ann’s Catholic Church. Rite of Interment will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery.
